METALLURGY & MINING
Through substantial investments and
strategic acquisitions, MYTILINEOS Group
has established itself, in the sector of
production and trading of alumina and
aluminium, as one of the leading groups
in S.E. Europe and the Middle East.
The companies of the Group active in
this sector constitute a driving force for
economy and society.
Located in Ag. Nikolaos, Viotia, Alu-
minium from its foundation in 1960 till
today, remains one of the strong pillars of
the Greek industry., By applying produc-
tion and commercial practices that only
the world’s top metallurgical industries
possess, the Company is today the larg-
est fully vertically integrated producer of
alumina and aluminium in Europe. Its an-
nual production capacity is over 165,000
tons of aluminium and 810,000 tons of
alumina.
DELPHΟI-DISTOMON
It is the second largest bauxite producer
in Greece and S.E. Europe, with an annual
production of over 650,000 tons exclu-
sively from underground mining sites.
The Company operates as the exclusive
supplier of ALUMINIUM.
EPC PROJECTS (Engineering-
Procurement-Construction)
The Group is active in the construction
sector via its subsidiary, METKA, which is
today a competitive international player
in the construction of large-scale energy
projects.
METKA was established in 1962 and in
1973 it was listed on the Athens Stock
Exchange, where its share is traded to
this day with participation to the FTSE-
20 large-capitalisation index. In 1999, a
landmark year for the company METKA
became part of the MYTILINEOS Group.
METKA is Greece’s top EPC (Engineering-
Procurement-Construction) contractor,
undertaking implementation of turn-key
projects, from design and supply through
to construction. The Company is spe-
cialising primarily in the construction of
power plants (combined cycle, conven-
tional thermal and hydropower), achieving
an unprecedented penetration in develop-
ing markets abroad.
It has been acknowledged as one of the
strongest players in the market for EPC
projects in Europe and beyond, as well as
one of the leading Greek exporting com-
panies. Moreover, its strong industrial
manufacturing base enables it to produce
specialised mechanical equipment and
machinery, as well as providing the basis
for the Company’s strong presence in In-
frastructure and Defence related projects.
