O
Our Group's Human Resources policy
includes various productivity reward
programmes and even profit distribution
plans, based on overall employee perfor-
mance. We apply comprehensive compen-
sations and benefits plans and special-pur-
pose pay definition and evolution schemes
specific to each one of our activity sectors,
characterised by meritocracy and objectivi-
ty, in full compliance with the collective bar-
gaining agreements, for all our employees.
Our objective is to ensure meritocracy in ear-
ning levels, guarantee competitive earnings
in relation to the Greek market and lay the
foundations for long-term relations with our
employees in all our subsidiaries. Our plans
are free from all discrimination and support
the principles of equal treatment and tran-
sparency, laying down clearly defined poli-
cies for all categories of personnel.
Our Group offers its employees earnings that
cover their own personal needs as well as th-
ose of their dependent family members. In
regions of the Group’s activities abroad wh-
ere no base salary provisions are in place or
if the national base salary is not sufficient
to cover the basic needs of employees and
their families, the level of their compensa-
tion is calculated based on the cost of living
for the particular region.
Due to the specific nature of their activities,
our subsidiaries – especially in the Metallurgy
& Mining sector and the Construction & EPC
Projects sector – employ primarily men in po-
sitions with higher specialisation require-
ments (technical or managerial), with women
employed in less specialised positions, a si-
tuation that is inevitably reflected in the cor-
responding salary levels.
Furthermore, we respect our employees’ ri-
ght to parental leave and we ensure that they
retain their jobs after the end of their lea-
ve. During 2013, 10 out of our 15 em-
ployees who took parental leave returned to
work, with the remaining 5 continuing on pa-
rental leave. In addition, the percentage of
employees retained 12 months from their re-
turn from parental leave, as shown in the ta-
ble below, is clearly affected by the “nil” va-
lue reported for women: this is due to the
fact that, although these women were re-
tained and were working in the Group, in
2013 they had not yet completed 12 mon-
ths of continuous employment, as required
by the relevant indicator.

6.5 COMPENSATIONS & BENEFITS
F
rom its establishment to this day, the his-
tory of MYTILINEOS Group has been in-
terwoven with the economic growth of
Greece and especially of the Greek periphery.
The continuous development of our collab-
oration with the populations of local com-
munities, where our activities are of a higher
visibility, taking into account their particular
characteristics and needs together with the lo-
cal custom and practice, is a catalyst for the
implementation of our social initiatives and
actions. In all cases, we remain unequivocal-
ly committed to understanding and re-
sponding to the concerns of our local com-
munities through the open dialogue process-
es that we follow. Fully aware of the signif-
icant work of the Local Authorities, we share
our know-how and expertise with them and,
through collective effort, we build partnerships
that yield multiple benefits, create added val-
ue and strengthen social cohesion.
