In addition, the Group's mining activity,
which takes place primarily in underground
quarries in the Fokida Region, is carried out
in full respect of the area’s biodiversity and
is based on developing and carrying out En-
vironmental Impact assessments and plans
for the rehabilitation of the areas affected.
The Group is committed to the application
of best practices such as the detailed study
of the ecosystem before the mining activi-
ty commences, as well as the corresponding
study of the specific climatological and soil
conditions in the affected area to be reha-
bilitated. On 31st of December 2013, the
area of land under rehabilitation totalled
43.87 hectares, with the areas which have
been rehabilitated since the start of our min-
ing activity accounting for 87.7% of all af-
fected areas.
Finally, no new activities with an impact on
the local biodiversity took place in 2013.
