Athens, Greece – March 24, 2025 – METLEN invites the public at a unique photographic journey through the exhibition “Approaching METLEN: Pathways of a New Industrial Cosmopolitanism” — a distinctive journey through the past, present, and future of Greek metallurgy.
From March 24 to April 23, at Warehouse C, Thessaloniki Port, visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in METLEN’ s world, discover its dynamic evolution, and engage with both its traditions and innovations.
The exhibition is the work of internationally acclaimed photographer Tasos Vrettos, who, through his lens, captures the intersection of industry and art, shedding light on the hidden pathways of Greek metallurgy.
The exhibition, which is curated by Nadia Argyropoulou, highlights METLEN’s continuous evolution — from its roots as a metallurgical company to its current global role in the fields of energy and Critical Raw Materials. In a setting shaped to interweave soundscapes and moving images, Vrettos offers more than just an aesthetic take on industrial production. He conveys the rhythm, atmosphere, and human geography of the new Greek industrial landscape.
Vrettos' works unfold as narratives, portraying the cosmopolitan outlook of a Greek company that began in the early 20th century and moves through the 21st with a strong sense of belonging and a global perspective.
Following an in-depth photographic exploration of METLEN’s industrial unit in Viotia — from the Gulf of Antikyra and Distomo to the port of Agios Nikolaos — Tasos Vrettos documents the contemporary industrial landscape, its infrastructure, and the material metamorphosis. His images reveal the power of metals, the interaction between people and raw materials, and the ongoing transformation of a sector shaping Greece’s energy and economic future.
