The President of the Hellenic Republic, HE Katerina Sakellaropoulou, met with representatives of MYTILINEOS Energy & Metals during Her οfficial visit to Chile

The President of the Hellenic Republic, HE Katerina Sakellaropoulou, during her official visit to Chile met with representatives of MYTILINEOS Energy & Metals, the largest Greek company operating in the country.

The President was briefed on the energy sector activities of MYTILINEOS in Chile, including the development of a Renewable Energy Portfolio (photovoltaics) with a capacity of 588 MW, with a total investment exceeding €500 million, significantly contributing to the country's path towards sustainable development.

For instance, the Willka park in Arica represents the largest foreign capital investment in the region, exceeding $110 million USD, producing 109.2 MWp of energy, capable of supplying electricity to more than 105,000 households annually.

Overall, the projects will supply Enel Chile with 1.1 TWh of energy annually for 10 years. Additionally, MYTILINEOS enhances network efficiency and promotes sustainable energy management practices through investments in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Moreover, MYTILINEOS has developed a significant presence in Chile as a contractor for third-party projects, with a RES portfolio of 600MW.

The social footprint of MYTILINEOS is equally noteworthy, identifying needs at both the local and national levels and actively supporting them. The President was briefed on MYTILINEOS's social initiatives in the country, which include supporting local communities, aiding in natural disaster recovery efforts, preserving archaeological sites, and building infrastructure for children. For example, in the Arica region, the company donated over 4,000 photovoltaic units to the Wali Qhantati indigenous community, while also investing in the education of local communities, especially women.
