METLEN & SKEP: Together for a Society without Exclusions

For the fourth consecutive year, METLEN demonstrates its commitment to inclusion in practice by supporting SKEP’s Educational Awareness Program on Disability, “Learning to See the Person.”

From January to June 2025, SKEP partners – with and without disabilities – implemented the program in 91 schools in Attica and Lamia, reaching 6,668 students and 294 teachers.

At the end of the school year, an evaluation questionnaire was distributed, to which 104 teachers responded. The results confirm the program’s strong impact and effectiveness, as the overwhelming majority (97.1%) rated it as “very useful,” highlighting that it:

  • Positively influenced students’ attitudes and behaviors, fostering empathy.
  • Empowered teachers in their teaching practices regarding inclusion.
  • Strengthened the belief that disability is a social issue, not an individual problem.

Teachers emphasized that students meaningfully engaged with values that enhance social cohesion, accessibility, and active citizenship. The direct interaction with people with disabilities, the experiential approach, and the educational strength of the program created a deep social footprint — both on the students and on the teachers themselves.

This initiative, which holds special value for METLEN, stands out as a point of reference with strong emotional impact, contributing to the creation of a society that leaves no one excluded.

METLEN’s support for this initiative is part of the company’s strategic partnerships with key social organizations, aimed at advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 10 and 17).

SKEP’s Educational Program “Learning to See the Person” has been successfully implemented since 2009 and is approved by the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports.
