Much of the world’s existing power generation capacity is based on traditional steam power plants. A large portion of this capacity is either in need of upgrading and lifetime extension, or will reach the end of its practical lifetime in the coming years. The new generation of larger coal fired power plants with supercritical steam technology offers potential for major improvements in plant efficiency. There are also significant opportunities for upgrading of the existing fleet of aging plants to improve performance.

Metlen has several decades of experience in steam power plants projects and has a particularly strong background in the construction of large lignite fired units. Furthermore, Metlen has the capability and know-how to manufacture major plant components and equipment in its state-of-the-art industrial facilities.

A further dimension of Metlen’s activity in this sector is its long standing participation in projects for the development and upgrading of lignite mine infrastructure.
